Quick research (google: “geo thermal power”) and you will most likely find the “Wiki” page showing that for decades people have used steam power plants to generate electricity. $100+ million dollar 50+Mw steam plants (ORMAT & NVG) heavily reliant on water to create steam. You will also find the latest MIT technology using a earth fracturing process to create steam. What you won’t find without digging deeper is that at best these steam plants loose 30% of the precious commodity known as water. They also bring heavy metals from earth to the surface where they can then leach into aquifers and streams. You’ll also have to dig to learn that the 3.2 earthquake in Bern Switzerland was caused by a company utilizing MIT’s earth fracturing technology. Sure both methods are still better than oil, gas, coal or nuclear powered electricity plants. However, they are not GEOvolta which utilizes a heat differential technology that does not require steam of fracturing. It also does not require vast real-estate holdings such as sun & wind.
